Connect your AI

The AI builder app lets your own Claude or ChatGPT work on your shop. You tell it what you want in a chat, and it can read and change your products, stock, orders and customers. The writing is done by your own AI account. Storeforge only gives it a way to look at your shop and save changes.

Where to connect it

Add AI builder from Apps (see Apps), then open it from the sidebar. Only the shop owner can open it. Step 1 on the page, Connect your AI, gives you two ways in.

  • Claude, the easy way: in Claude open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector. Paste the address shown on the page. Log in to your shop when asked and tap Allow. The AI then shows in a list on the page, with a Disconnect button.
  • A private link: for ChatGPT and AIs without sign-in. Press Create my AI link, copy it, and paste it into your AI as the server address, with no sign-in. The page has short steps for Claude and ChatGPT.

Worth knowing: the private link is the key. Anyone who has it can change your products and stock, see your orders and customers, and mark orders shipped, so paste it only into your own AI. If it leaks, press Make a new link, which stops the old one working. Disconnect cuts your AI off completely.

What your AI can do

  • Products: find, add and change products, prices, photos, variants, SEO and stock. It can change up to 50 products in one go, for example a percentage off or a tag added. New products are saved hidden until you say to show them.
  • Collections: make collections, change them, and add or remove products.
  • Orders: see which orders still need to ship, read an order, add a private note, and mark an order shipped with a courier and tracking number. Your customer gets the usual "on the way" email.
  • Customers: look people up, see their details and recent orders, and keep a private note and tags on them.
  • Sales: today, the last 7 days and the last 30 days, or a range you ask for, with your best sellers.
  • Your shop's look: banners, sections, colours, fonts and discount codes.

What it can't do

It can't refund, cancel or mark orders paid, and it can't touch your payment settings.

Checking its work

Changes to your shop's look go into a draft. On the AI builder page you can Preview draft, Publish it, Throw away draft, or Undo last publish. Discount codes it makes stay switched off until the draft is published.

Product, stock, order and customer changes are different: they happen on your live shop straight away. Your AI is told to check with you first, but you should read what it proposes. Everything it changes is listed on the Activity page, and a stock change it makes shows in that product's Stock history as "Set by your AI".

Worth knowing: a price change doesn't switch back by itself. If you ask for 10% off until Sunday, ask it to end the sale on Sunday.

If you remove the app

Your AI can't see or change your shop any more. Sections it already published, and changes it made to products, stay as they are.
